Selling Avon is exciting! You get to shop at a discount, try out amazing products, and make money at the same time. Here are 10 tips to start strong so you can build a business that will continue to bloom.
1. Choose your Mentor
This is super important so you can set yourself up for success. It can only be done at the time of enrollment so take your time and find someone who can guide you to what you want to achieve.

2. Personalize your Online Store
When you join Avon, it takes less than 5 minutes to enroll. (and it's $0 right now btw.) Part of the process is setting up your online store. You will chose your personal URL and get the link to share with your customers so they can shop with you.
There are also customers that go to Avon's site looking for a Representative. Avon will give them a list of Reps to consider and you can increase your chances of them choosing you by making your site stand out.
The #1 way to do this is to add a photo. I have had customers contact me and, when I ask them how they found me, they say that I was the only one on the list with a photo.
Note: the site also shows that I have earned badges in Fragrance, Makeup, and Skincare. You can get these badges added to your profile by completing the related courses in Avon U.
3. Introduce Yourself on Social Media
You're excited about this new adventure. Let others know!
Take a look at how one of our new team members introduced her new business to her followers. You can see by the response, it worked. 12 people even shared her post with THEIR followers!
So what worked? She made it personal!
Let's break it down:
She included a picture of herself with a smile :)
She mentioned why she joined (Her Grandma used to sell and she loved the products when she was little)
She mentioned a product she loves (Skin So Soft Bug Guard) and why (it kept her from getting eaten by mosquitos)
She pointed out something exciting from the current brochure (75% off sale)
She included a link (she used her online store url. You can also use your digital brochure link.)
4. Share the Brochure
Avon's brochures are the #1 tool for getting sales. Giving a book to someone lets them see all you have to offer! Plus it's BEAUTIFUL. Whenever I flip through the book, I find new things I can't wait to try.
You can give your customers a paper brochure or a digital version.
Advantages of the paper brochure:
There's something about physically flipping through the brochures that is really fun. Customers can circle their favs, and build their order.
You can use them to find new customers wherever you go.
You can leave them in places where people wait. Think doctor's offices, salons, laundromats, etc.
You can give a book to a friend and ask them to bring it to work with them. It's a great way to connect with their coworkers when you wouldn't otherwise have an "in."

You can also send a Digital Brochure! Customers who shop through the Avon Digital Brochure are 10 TIMES more likely to purchase than those who enter through our online store link. So for your online customers, this is the way to go.

It's free!
Customers can click on products right on the pages and add them to their cart.
If you send it using your personal share links, the commissions from that sale will go to you.

5. Focus on One Product
It's better to focus on one core product to drive sales and meet your goals than to overwhelm yourself and your customers. Pick a product you feel comfortable with recommending, or one that is on sale for a great price.
For example, here is our Skin So Soft Original Bath Oil Bonus Size. It's on sale right now for $20.69 (reg. $30.)
It's a product that most people know and love. They'll jump at the chance to get this great deal.
It could be your Grand Opening Special!
Send this image to your contacts with a message like,
"Hi NAME! I just joined and I'm really excited to [GOAL make money for my family, save up for school, etc.). Right now there is a special on the Bonus Size Skin So Soft bath oil. Have you ever used it before? It's a best seller and I know you love a great deal. You can get the big bottle and refill a smaller spray bottle to save. Would you help me towards my goal?
If so, great, and, if not, no big deal. I just appreciate the love here on [FB, IG, etc.]"
How big of an order can you build with just this one product?
5 bottles = over $100 in sales
10 bottles = over $200 in sales
15 bottles = over $300 in sales
20 bottles = over $400 in sales
6. Learn the Products FAST!
Use this trick to learn about a product and be able to speak confidently about it after just a quick peak at your phone. It will help with making recommendations!
7. Use the Products, Make Recommendations
When you use the products yourself, something magical happens.
You can speak from EXPERIENCE and recommend products to people that will genuinely fit their needs.
Of course you'll also get to enjoy your own products at a discount.
Flip through the Digital Brochure yourself and find things you would need to purchase for your family anyway.
One that I always have in my home:
You just toss a sheet in with your wash load and it completely dissolves when the water touches it. My kids can do their own laundry without having to pick up (and spill!) a heavy jug of detergent.
PRO TIP: See what I did there? I showed a photo of me using the product, and told how I use it IRL. And why it works so well for my family. This is the kind of authenticity that will make people trust your recommendations!
8. Get on a Schedule, Pick your Order Day
Getting your business on a consistent schedule will help you get more done and make your customers excited to order again and again.
If you will be placing orders for your customers, it's especially important to set a date when you will submit all of the orders you've collected. Then you can keep costs down and profits high.

9. The Fortune is in the Follow Up
As you are sharing brochures and links, posting content, and making recommendations, be sure to ask for the sale. Keep the conversation going so you can guide them to check-out.
If you're placing the order for the customer, say:
"Hi NAME, I know you had your eye on PRODUCT NAME and it's such a great deal. My order goes in tomorrow. Would you like me to get that for you?"
Or if you sent them a link to your digital brochure:
"Hi NAME, did you get a chance to take a look at the digital brochure? The PRODUCT on page __ made me think of you right away. Is there anything that caught your eye?"
Or if they liked or commented on a post you did about a product:
"Thank you for linking my post! The PRODUCT really is amazing and the sale is ending soon. Here is the link so you can grab yours. [Include the link to the product on your online store]
10. Invite a Friend
Everything is more fun with a friend! And when they join Avon and are successful, Avon gives you bonuses for helping them.
As you are reaching out, it's natural for others to think, "Avon! That's great. I bet I could do that too."
To join your team, they would just go to your online store link and click Become a Rep.
PRO TIP: you can go there yourself, click through to the enrollment form page, copy that url and send. Sending them the direct link means they are more likely to do it ;)
